Bonaigarh: A worrying picture of poor educational infrastructure has emerged from Sindurkala Primary School, located in a remote tribal area in the Bonaigarh area of Odisha's Sundaragada district. More than 40 students are attending classes in unsafe conditions due to the lack of adequate infrastructure.

The school, which has students from Classes I to V, is managed by only two teachers. With just two classrooms available, an old and dilapidated building is being used both as a classroom and the school office.

The condition of the building has deteriorated significantly. Water leakage from the roof during rainfall has forced teachers to cover it with plastic sheets from above. Plastic tarpaulins have also been hung inside the room to prevent rainwater from disrupting classes.

According to the school authorities, the matter has been brought to the notice of the concerned department several times. However, no permanent measures have been taken so far. Continuous rainfall has further weakened the building, raising fears that parts of the roof could collapse at any time.

The situation has sparked concern among parents and locals, who say children in the remote tribal area are being deprived of basic educational infrastructure. They have urged the district administration and the Education Department to immediately repair the school building or construct a new one to ensure a safe learning environment.

Locals stressed that the safety of young students should not be compromised under any circumstances and demanded urgent intervention before any untoward incident occurs.
