Bhubaneswar: The state government is making all arrangements for smooth organisation of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra in Odisha’s Puri city.

The authorities will issue comparatively less number of cordon passes and vehicle passes to avoid unnecessary congregation near the three chariots. This was revealed by Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan today.

“Extensive preparations are underway to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of this year's Rath Yatra. Compared to last year, the number of cordon passes will be reduced by 50 percent, while vehicle passes will also be significantly curtailed. The movement of VVIPs during the festival will be kept to a minimum to facilitate better crowd management,” said the minister.

According to Harichandan, experienced officials have been assigned key responsibilities for crowd control and security arrangements. “The administration is holding repeated consultations with the servitors, representatives of the Chhatisa Nijog, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination,” he added.

The authorities are also conducting regular review meetings to ensure that all rituals and ceremonial proceedings are completed on schedule. Special emphasis is being placed on ensuring that the chariot-pulling begins and progresses at the designated time.

“With the blessings of Lord Jagannath and the collective efforts of all stakeholders, this year's Rath Yatra will be conducted smoothly, safely, and in a well-organized manner,” stated the minister.
