Bhubaneswar: In a saddening incident, a couple was killed and their three-year-old son was critically injured in a road mishap in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Friday.

The mishap occurred in Bandhabahal area of Sundargarh in the afternoon.

As per reports, the mishap took place while the couple along with the son were travelling on a bike.

A speeding truck, bearing registration no. OD-16P-5216, reportedly hit the bike (CG 14-MH-2613) near Bardihi Square at around 4 pm.  

The man and his wife died on the spot while their son sustained critical injuries in the mishap. The locals rescued the injured child and rushed him to a nearby hospital. He was later shifted to a health facility at Sundargarh after his condition deteriorated, reports said.

On being informed, the Kinjirkela police reached the spot and seized the two vehicles before launching a probe into the incident. However, the identities of the deceased couple are yet to be known.
