Bhubaneswar: Amid recent media reports on the Covid-19 situation, the Odisha Government on Wednesday said there is no reason for panic.

In a statement, the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department said, as per information shared by the Government of India, current data indicates only a low, seasonal uptick in cases.

The Centre has conducted an independent assessment of the situation through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and the Indian Council of Medical Research, which found no alarming trend.

The department added routine surveillance and standard clinical vigilance will continue across the state.

Official sources said the situation will be closely monitored in line with Government of India protocols.
In recent days, Covid-19 cases have been reported in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, prompting authorities in Ganjam district to remain on high alert.

Hospitals in Ganjam have been directed to ensure mandatory Covid-19 testing for patients presenting with Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) and to conduct random testing of at least 5 per cent of patients with Influenza-Like Illness (ILI).
