Sundargarh: A tragic accident claimed the life of a CRPF jawan at a camp located in the Saranda forest under Jaraikela police limits in Odisha's Sundargarh district.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, a constable of the CoBRA 210 Battalion. The incident occurred late Tuesday night at the Babudera CRPF camp when Kumar was resting inside.

According to initial reports, a large tree suddenly collapsed onto the camp, striking Kumar on the head and leaving him critically injured.

Fellow personnel immediately rushed him to a hospital in Ranchi for treatment. Doctors initiated emergency care upon his arrival, but he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Security personnel expressed deep sorrow over the untimely death, terming it an irreparable loss for the forces.

The local administration and concerned departments have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are also reviewing safety arrangements at the camp to prevent such accidents in the future.
