Puri: Darshan at the Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain suspended for four hours on Monday, August 17, to facilitate a special ritual of Lord Jagannath and His Holy Siblings, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said on Sunday.
According to the temple administration, the Khasapada Lagi Niti of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be performed on the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Shravan.
As per the schedule, general darshan of the deities will remain closed from 6 pm to 10 pm on August 17, after the completion of the second Bhogamandap ritual.
During this period, devotees will not be permitted to enter the main sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagriha), as the special ritual and associated confidential temple services will be performed.
The SJTA has advised devotees planning to visit the temple to take note of the revised darshan timings and cooperate with the temple administration during the ritual.
The Khasapada Niti is among the special rituals performed as part of the temple’s traditional daily and periodic rituals.
