Puri: Once again a drone was spotted flying over the premises of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, a designated no-fly zone, on Monday evening, raising fresh security concerns.

According to sources, the drone was noticed at around 5:55 p.m., prompting personnel from the Singhadwar Police Station to immediately swing into action and launch an operation to trace and intercept the device.

During the operation, the authorities identified a youth operating the drone from the Dhanakuti Sahi lane area. He has been identified as Dipu Kumar Yadav, a resident of Jharkhand.

Official sources said Yadav has been detained at the Singhadwar Police Station for questioning, and further legal action will be taken as per law.

Security has been tightened in and around the temple premises, while officials are investigating the motive behind flying the drone in the restricted zone.

Notably, a similar incident was reported on January 22, when a drone was spotted hovering over the temple. In that case, Singhadwar police had arrested Madhusudan Sadangi from Kazidih area in Cuttack.
