Cuttack: A fire broke out early Tuesday morning at the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) office located at Link Road in Cuttack, reportedly due to a short circuit.

According to reports, the incident occurred at around 5:30 am. Fire Services personnel from the Chauliaganj Fire Station rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and launched an operation to control the blaze.

A total of three fire tenders and 22 firefighters were deployed. After nearly two hours of continuous effort, the fire was brought under control.

The blaze caused significant damage inside the office, with two rooms completely gutted. Several important documents stored in these rooms were burnt and reduced to ashes.

Assistant Fire Officer Jitendra Das said that the office lacked adequate fire safety arrangements, raising concerns over safety compliance. Preliminary findings suggest that the absence of proper fire safety measures may have contributed to the extent of the damage.

Further assessment is underway to determine the total loss caused by the incident. No casualties have been reported so far.
