Bhubaneswar: In a saddening incident, a youth drowned while bathing in Swetaganga tank in Odisha’s Puri city on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Sambit Pradhan of Satyabhamapur in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, Sambit and five others reached the Holy City on a fun trip today morning.

After visiting the Jagannath temple, the six youths went to Swetaganga, a sacred tank, for a bath. Sambit reportedly drowned after he ventured into deep water while bathing in the tank.

On being informed, the police as well as Fire Brigade personnel reached the spot and rescued Sambit before rushing him to a hospital. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The police have seized the body and sent it for postmortem before launching a probe into the incident.
