Niali: A goods truck carrying around 29 tonnes of material overturned after its driver allegedly took a wrong route while following Google Maps in Niali tehsil of Odisha's Kataka district.

The incident took place near Gandakul under Pokharigaon panchayat. The truck was travelling from Pratapnagari to Juanga. However, while relying on Google Maps, the driver reportedly took a wrong route and drove the heavy vehicle along the embankment of the Balikuda canal.

The truck subsequently overturned and fell into a paddy field. The driver had a narrow escape in the accident.

The incident also caused damage to a farmer's paddy crop. The truck's load, including cement, stone and sand, spilt into the field, leaving the farmer concerned that the land may no longer be suitable for cultivation.
