Mayurbhanj/Jagatsinghpur/Kendrapada: In view of the forecast of heavy rainfall, the district administrations of Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara have announced a one-day closure of schools on Monday.
In Mayurbhanj, District Education Officer Purna Chandra Sethi informed the holiday will apply to all government and private educational institutions up to Class 12. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students amid the possibility of intense rainfall.
However, teachers and staff have been directed to attend their respective schools as usual. They have been instructed to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with the local administration if required.
In Jagatsinghpur district, the administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions and Anganwadi centres on Monday, July 27, following a warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
According to an official order issued by the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Jagatsinghpur, all government, government-aided, and private schools at the elementary, secondary, and higher secondary levels, including Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), as well as all Anganwadi centres, will remain closed to ensure student safety.
Similarly, the Kendrapara district administration has also announced the closure of schools on Monday due to the heavy rainfall forecast.
