Keonjhar: Heavy rainfall has disrupted road communication in several parts of Telkoi block in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, with floodwater flowing over bridges and roads at multiple locations.

The Telkoi-Jagamohanpur road has been cut off after floodwater from the Hanumantia canal rose to around three feet over the road near the Kenduleaf Office. The flooding has disrupted connectivity between Telkoi and Jagamohanpur and affected access to National Highway 49.

Similarly, around five feet of water is flowing over the Tenar canal bridge at Nuagad in Deuladiha panchayat. As a result, road communication with Deuladiha and Karadangi areas has been disrupted.

Floodwater has also been flowing over the Samakoi river bridge near the Telkoi Dak Bungalow since late Thursday night. The situation has disrupted connectivity from Telkoi towards Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Kaliahata.

In another development, around five feet of floodwater is currently flowing over the Ghurudia canal bridge at Karadangi. This has cut off road communication between Karadangi and Telkoi, as well as between Karadangi and Angul-Talcher.

Rain began in the Telkoi area around midnight on Thursday. According to local rainfall records, Telkoi received 129.8 mm of rainfall by 8 am on Friday.

The continuous rain and rising water levels have raised concerns over road connectivity in the region, particularly in low-lying areas and near bridges.
