Rourkela: Heavy and incessant rain since Thursday morning has brought normal life in Rourkela to a standstill, with several parts of the city waterlogged and residential areas submerged.
The second entrance to Rourkela railway station has been completely inundated, causing severe inconvenience to passengers.
Several low-lying areas have also been affected. Ground-floor houses at Bishwakarma Vihar in Vedvyas and Dandiapali have been flooded. In Uditnagar's Sheetal Pada and Telgu Basti near Lal Building, rainwater has entered almost all houses.
Indira Nagar and Machhali Market slum areas have also been hit by severe waterlogging. The road connecting Vedvyas with TCI has been completely submerged, bringing traffic movement on the stretch to a halt.
