Rourkela/Bhubaneswar: The recent aircraft crash in Kansar village near Rourkela was likely caused by a disruption in fuel supply, according to the preliminary investigation report.

As per exclusive information accessed by Kanak News from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), the crash was triggered by a drop-in oil pressure, which eventually led to a complete stoppage of fuel supply to the engine.

Sources said the issue with oil pressure was detected nearly 30 nautical miles before the crash. Due to the lack of adequate fuel supply, the engine failed mid-flight.

The pilot initially attempted an emergency landing on the banks of the Brahmani River but was unsuccessful. The aircraft was then flown again and safely brought down in an open field.

The crash claimed the life of one passenger, who later succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. Three other passengers, along with the pilot and co-pilot, sustained serious injuries. After nearly 20 to 24 days of medical care, all the injured were discharged and returned home.

The preliminary findings have raised concerns over possible lapses in pre-flight checks. Questions are being raised over whether proper inspection of the fuel pump and engine systems was carried out before takeoff.

Authorities are expected to carry out a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash and assess if any negligence was involved.
