Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Justice of India Justice Gopal Ballav Patnaik has been nominated as a member of the selection committee of the Odisha Lokayukta.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Justice Patnaik’s nomination was made based on the recommendation of the Chairperson and members of the selection committee.

The notification stated the nomination was made in pursuance of Section 4(1)(e) of the Odisha Lokayukta Act, 2014 (Odisha Act of 2018).

In November 2002, President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam appointed Justice Patnaik as the Chief Justice of India. Justice Patnaik served as the CJI until his retirement in December 2002.
