Bhubaneswar: After a brief suspension of classes due to heatwave conditions, the Khordha district administration on Thursday ordered the reopening of schools from April 24, 2026.

Khordha Collector Amrit Ruturaj directed all schools, including private institutions, and Anganwadi centres to reopen with revised timings from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The directive will remain in force until further orders.

The state continues to reel under intense heatwave conditions. Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature at 43.4°C till 2:30 PM, followed by Sambalpur at 42.6°C. The capital city, Bhubaneswar, registered 41.8°C during the same period.
