Jharsuguda: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband over suspicion of having an extramarital affair at Ghunghuti Pada under Sadar police limits in Odisha's Jharsuguda district.

The deceased has been identified as Soudamini Kisan (28). Police have detained the accused, identified as Rahul Bag (28), for questioning.

According to preliminary information, the couple had an argument on Saturday night. During the altercation, Rahul allegedly became enraged over suspicion that his wife was involved in an extramarital relationship. He repeatedly assaulted Soudamini with a wooden stick, leading to her death.

Police recovered the body on Sunday and sent it for post-mortem examination. Further investigation into the incident was underway.
