Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out at a cotton warehouse near Patrapada in Bhubaneswar on Monday morning.
According to reports, thick smoke was first noticed billowing from the warehouse at around 9 am. Locals immediately alerted the Fire Services, following which multiple fire tenders rushed to the spot.
The blaze spread rapidly as the warehouse was stocked with highly inflammable cotton, making it difficult for firefighters to bring the fire under control. As of the latest reports, the fire had not been completely extinguished.
More than 10 firefighting teams have been deployed to douse the flames. Firefighters have been engaged in the operation for hours and are facing significant challenges due to the large quantity of cotton stored inside the warehouse.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Officials said the extent of the damage will be assessed only after the fire is brought completely under control.
