Bhubaneswar: A 35-year-old man and his two minor sons were killed in a road mishap in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Sunday.

The accident took place in Raighar area of Nabarangpur in the evening.

The deceased have been identified as Balaram Gond and his two minor sons of Kartabhari village in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

Gond’s wife and another son sustained critical injuries in the mishap that occurred on Raighar-Kundei road.

As per reports, Gond, his wife and three sons were returning home on a motorcycle at around 5 pm after visiting Raighar for some work.  

A speeding truck hit their bike from the rear and dragged it to some distance. Gond and two of his sons died on the spot.

The locals rescued Gond’s wife and his third son and rushed them to a nearby hospital. The mother-son duo was later shifted to a health facility at Umerkote after their conditions deteriorated.

Soon after the accident, Gond’s relatives and local residents staged a road blockade seeking compensation to his family.

On being informed, the Raighar police reached the spot and seized the truck. But, the driver managed to escape, reports said.
