Balasore: In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon by his two sons near the Soro court premises in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.

The injured man has been identified as Ganesh Barik (45) of Tundapada village in Soro area. He sustained critical injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.

According to reports, Ganesh had been involved in a long-standing dispute with his sons over the division of family land. On Friday afternoon, his elder son Kiran Kumar Barik (23) and younger son Kshirod Kumar Barik (19) allegedly called him near the Soro court to discuss the matter.

An argument reportedly broke out between them over the property issue. During the altercation, the two sons allegedly attacked their father with a sharp weapon.

Ganesh suffered grievous injuries in the assault. Locals rescued him from the spot in a critical condition and rushed him to the Soro Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for better treatment.

Following the incident, locals nabbed Kshirod and handed him over to the Soro police. However, elder son Kiran reportedly fled the scene.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to trace the accused.
