Bhubaneswar: In a major drug bust, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have seized hydroponic marijuana valued at over Rs 6 crore at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.
The contraband was recovered from two passengers who had arrived on flight 6E-1066 from Bangkok. According to officials, the accused were carrying around 6 kilograms of hydroponic weed concealed in their luggage.
Both individuals, reportedly natives of Tamil Nadu, have been detained and are currently being interrogated by the DRI.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the marijuana was being smuggled into the city from Bangkok.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the network involved and the intended recipients of the consignment.
