Koraput: Panic gripped residents in Laxmipur area of Koraput district after mild tremors were felt on Tuesday evening.

According to local reports, the tremors were felt at around 8:39 pm, accompanied by a loud sound. Several residents, startled by the jolt, rushed out of their homes as a precautionary measure.

Some shopkeepers at the Laxmipur bus stand also reportedly stepped out of their shops after feeling the tremors.

A local resident, Ajit Sahu, said soon after the incident, several people contacted their relatives and acquaintances over the phone to check whether they had also experienced the tremors.

The tremor was reportedly felt simultaneously in parts of the Narayapatna area of the district.

“Laxmipur has experienced similar mild tremors in the past few months,” said another local resident, Suraj Swain.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
