Nayagarh: A minor boy who had gone to the Kanipada forest in Nayagarh district to collect honey has become trapped in a large stone groove, triggering an intensive rescue operation. Later the boy was rescued following a four-hour long operation.
The boy, identified as Shiba Pradhan from Kanipada village, has reportedly been stuck for over five hours. Locals first spotted him trapped and immediately alerted the Fire Services.
Two teams of fire personnel from Odagaon and Nayagarh were deployed to the spot. According to reports, the boy’s head was stuck inside the stone groove, making the rescue operation particularly challenging.
Fire Service teams used hydraulic jack equipment to carefully lift the heavy stones in an effort to free him safely. A control room was also set up in Nayagarh to monitor the situation.
Officials at the site were in constant communication with the minor. Rescuers engaged with him regularly to keep him calm and ensure he does not lose morale.
Meanwhile, concerns were raised as the presence of poisonous snakes in the area added to the risks involved in the operation.
