Bhadrak: A NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Odisha’s Bhadrak district after reportedly fearing failure in the medical entrance examination.

The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Prakash Barik, son of Giridhari Barik of Nunda village under Tihidi block.

According to reports, Jyoti had appeared for the NEET examination for the second time this year. He had earlier failed to clear the examination after completing his Plus Two studies. Family members said he had been under severe mental stress as he felt his second attempt had also not gone well.

Fearing that failure in NEET would ruin his future, the student allegedly hanged himself at his house last night when no other family members were present.

Though family members rushed him to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Bhadrak Town Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. An unnatural death case has been registered, police said.
