Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and five others, including three video journalists, were critically injured after a speeding truck ploughed into a crowd gathered at an accident site in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today.

The incident took place at Palabani in Baripada town in the evening.

As per reports, a pick-up van carrying timbers overturned at Palabani in Baripada after the driver lost control over the vehicle.

Soon, a group of local residents rushed to the accident site and tried to remove the pick-up van from the road. Some media persons, including video journalists, gathered at the spot to cover the mishap.

The situation turned further chaotic after a speeding truck ploughed into the crowd, killing two persons on the spot and causing critical injuries to five others, including the video journalists (cameramen) of three news channels.

The locals rescued the injured persons and rushed them to PRM Medical College and Hospital. The conditions of these five are stated to be serious.
