Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure the effective implementation of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, the Odisha government has allocated ₹10 lakh to each district across the state.

Announcing the decision, Minister for Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Suryabanshi Suraj, said the campaign will be observed from August 9 to 17 under the aegis of the department.

A state-level Tiranga Rally will be held on August 9, organised by the Sports and Youth Services Department with support from other departments. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is scheduled to attend the event.

The rally in Bhubaneswar will proceed from Hatiasuni Ground to Lumbini Vihar Road, with participation from government officials, youth groups, voluntary organisations, sportspersons, students, and NCC and NSS volunteers. Similar rallies will also be organised at the district level.

As part of the campaign, 60 lakh national flags are being prepared by women Self-Help Groups under the Mission Shakti Department for distribution across districts. As of August 8 noon, around 45.40 lakh flags had already been prepared.

To support this initiative, the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department has sanctioned ₹15 crore to the Mission Shakti Department.

On August 14, the Odisha Sahitya Akademi will organise a state-level programme to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, with similar events planned across districts. The programme will include a photo exhibition, short film screenings, and a theatrical presentation highlighting the impact of Partition. Families affected by Partition will be invited to share their experiences and will be felicitated. A silent candle march will follow.

The state-level Independence Day celebrations on August 15 will be organised by the Information and Public Relations Department. The Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi will present a patriotic musical programme titled “Bharatiyam” at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar. A special concert will also mark the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram.”

The celebrations will feature sand art displays, a large-scale rangoli exhibition, and “Selfie with Tiranga” booths.

During the campaign period, citizens can upload selfies with the national flag on the official Har Ghar Tiranga website and download digital certificates. An online quiz will also be conducted via the MyGov portal.

Calling the Tiranga “a symbol of our identity and pride,” the Minister urged private institutions, NGOs, and citizens to actively participate and make the campaign a success.

Senior officials, including Bijay Ketan Upadhyay (Secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department), Chandra Sekhar Hota (Secretary, Odisha Sahitya Akademi), and Devjani Bhuyan (Deputy Director), were present at the press briefing.
