Odisha: Banker held for misappropriation of over Rs 1 crore govt funds in Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance today arrested a senior official of Koraput Central Co-Operative (KCC) Bank in Malkangiri on charges of embezzling government funds worth over Rs 1 crore.

The accused has been identified as Sudhansu Khora, the Branch Manager of KCC Bank in Malkangiri. Khora allegedly misappropriated government funds to the tune of Rs 1.08 crore.

The bank had gathered the amount following recovery of crop loans from farmers affiliated to five Large Area Multipurpose Co-operative Societies (LAMPCS) in Malkangiri district.

The Vigilance police station at Koraput registered two separate cases in this regard under various Sections PC Amendment Act-2018 and BNS. The accused banker will be produced in a Vigilance court, said an official.
