Bhubaneswar: While distributing appointment letters to 4,623 new recruits, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi asked them to follow five key principles in their professional lives.

The outlined five key principles were zero tolerance towards corruption, being responsive to public concerns, performing duties without personal bias, ensuring timely delivery of services, and upholding politeness and professionalism in conduct.

He stated a government job is not merely a means of livelihood but a unique opportunity to serve the people.

The recruitment drive covered seven departments, with the School and Mass Education Department accounting for the highest number of appointments at 4,113. Other departments included Forest, Environment and Climate Change (154), MSME (143), Steel and Mines (77), Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (70), Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water (52), and Skill Development and Technical Education (14).

Congratulating the new recruits, the Chief Minister said government employees represent the face of the administration and play a crucial role in ensuring benefits of welfare schemes reach the last person in society.
Majhi informed since June 2024, the state government has provided 44,082 government jobs and facilitated employment for around 92,000 people in the private sector.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, who attended the event as a guest of honour, said that under the Chief Minister’s leadership, employment opportunities for youth in Odisha are expanding steadily.

State ministers including Gokulananda Mallik (Fisheries & Animal Resources Development and MSME), Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia (Forest, Environment and Climate Change), and Nityananda Gond (School and Mass Education), Ministers Ravi Narayan Naik (Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water) and Sampad Chandra Swain (Industries and Skill Development) were also present during the programme.
