Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday felicitated Indian Idol Season 16 winner Jyotirmayee Nayak at his official residence in Bhubaneswar and announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh in recognition of her outstanding achievement.

Congratulating the singer on her national triumph, the Chief Minister said Jyotirmayee's victory has brought pride to Odisha and inspired a new generation of aspiring vocalists across the state.

During the meeting, Jyotirmayee presented her Indian Idol trophy to the Chief Minister and shared her journey to winning one of India's most popular singing reality shows. She spoke about the hard work, perseverance and dedication that helped her achieve success on the national stage.

Praising her accomplishment, Majhi said that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, exceptional talent and relentless commitment, Jyotirmayee had earned national recognition and brought glory to Odisha.

"Jyotirmayee is an inspiration for the new generation of singers," the Chief Minister said while announcing the Rs 5 lakh reward.

Music beyond entertainment

The Chief Minister also lauded Jyotirmayee for using music as a tool for healing. A trained music therapist, she has been working with cancer patients and expecting mothers, offering music therapy to help ease stress and improve emotional well-being.

He said her rare combination of artistic excellence and humanitarian service has made her a true youth icon for both Odisha and the country.

Majhi expressed hope that her efforts to integrate music into healthcare would encourage similar initiatives in the future and create a new trend in patient care.

Journey from Balasore to national glory

Jyotirmayee Nayak hails from Baunsanal village in the Nilgiri block of Balasore district. She is already a well-known playback singer in the Odia music industry and has earned appreciation for her work as a music therapist.

The Chief Minister said that the dedication and determination displayed by young achievers like Jyotirmayee would contribute to the vision of a Samrudha Odisha and Viksit Bharat.

He also thanked the people of Odisha for extending overwhelming support to Jyotirmayee throughout her Indian Idol journey, describing her victory as a memorable moment for the state that has further elevated Odisha's artistic talent on the national stage.

Jyotirmayee's parents, Chakradhar Nayak and Gauri Nayak, were also present during the felicitation ceremony.
