Jajpur: Alleging no government relief has reached the flood-hit residents in Jajpur district despite widespread damage, hundreds of affected villagers confronted Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida today.

Tensions escalated when Parida visited the breach site in Dhobabil Patana under Dasarathpur block to assess the situation. Locals claimed the Deputy Chief Minister arrived much later than scheduled and conducted only a brief inspection of the breach using a torch.

As she was leaving, aggrieved residents questioned her over the delay in relief distribution, asking why assistance had not reached affected families even days after the disaster.

The situation turned tense as villagers stopped her vehicle and demanded immediate government support. Protesters raised slogans and expressed strong dissatisfaction with the administration’s response to the crisis.

Sensing the situation becoming volatile, local leaders accompanying the Deputy CM reportedly left the area. Meanwhile, protesting residents were seen chasing her convoy and continuing their demonstration.

Dasarathpur is among the worst-affected blocks in Jajpur district. The floods have caused extensive crop damage, severely impacting already debt-burdened farmers, while hundreds of shops have also been damaged.
