Brahmapur: An elderly woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Ghata Paika Sahi in Kabisuryanagar town of Odisha's Ganjam district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Pratima Jena.

Family members have alleged that unidentified miscreants murdered the woman after looting her gold jewellery from the house.

On being informed, Kabisuryanagar police reached the spot, recovered the body from inside her residence, and launched an investigation.

A scientific team has also been pressed into service to collect forensic evidence from the scene. Police are examining all possible angles to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

No arrests have been reported so far.
