Bhubaneswar: A 34-year-old engineer, who returned home for celebration of his wife’s birthday, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident took place in Sahadevkhunta area of Balasore on July 16. The deceased has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Sethi, a native of Jagatsinghpur district.
As per reports, Sethi was working as an engineer in Cuttack while his wife, a government engineer, was posted in Balasore.
Sethi had reached his wife’s rented accommodation in Sahadevkhunta area of Balasore to surprise her on her birthday on July 16.
Shortly after his arrival, the 34-year-old was found dead inside his wife’s rented house under suspicious circumstances.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem before launching a probe into the incident.
Sethi’s wife claimed that he was found hanging from the ceiling of the house. The cops have also recovered a suicide note from the spot.
In the suicide note, Sethi reportedly mentioned that no one should be blamed for his death and he took the extreme step as for his own will.
Sethi’s family members, however, alleged that he was murdered by his wife with the help of her paramour.
They also alleged that Sethi’s wife was involved in an extramarital affair and there was a marital discord between the couple over the issue.
Sethi’s relatives also raised doubts over the authenticity of the suicide note. “The suicide note was written in blue ink while the signature was done in green ink. The police should check the authenticity of the suicide note by matching it with Sethi’s handwriting,” said a relative.
The cops, meanwhile, have questioned Sethi’s wife as part of their investigation into the incident.
