Bhubaneswar: The police in Odisha’s Keonjhar district have arrested a former official of a private bank and his father on charges of misappropriating money from customers’ accounts.

The accused have been identified as Jasprit Singh, the former Relationship Manager of the Barbil branch of the private bank, and his father Vikram Singh of the Mrinal Colony.

As per reports, Jasprit and his father had allegedly misappropriated over Rs 3 crore from the bank accounts of several customers.

The scam came to the fore after Anita Agrawal, a customer of the bank, lodged a complaint in this regard with Barbil police.

The accused duo had allegedly misappropriated Rs 10.34 lakh from Agrawal’s bank account.

On the basis of the complaint, the police had registered a case and launched a probe.

The police had nabbed Jasprit from Kolkata in neighbouring West Bengal on August 3. The cops arrested Jasprit’s father on Thursday after they came to know about his involvement in the case.

“The accused father-son duo has been produced in a local court. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” said an official of Barbil police.
