Bhubaneswar: Former MLA Anshuman Mohanty was reportedly bitten by a snake while visiting flood-affected areas in the Rajanagar Assembly segment in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Thursday.

Mohanty, a former legislator from Rajanagar, suffered the snakebite during his visit to Bachhara Mandapada area to assess the flood situation and interact with the affected people.

The former MLA was bitten by the snake while taking stock of the flood situation, said a villager.

Following the snakebite, Mohanty was immediately taken to the Rajanagar Community Health Centre (CHC), where he received preliminary treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.

However, doctors have kept him under observation and are closely monitoring his health.

The incident highlights the risks faced by people, including those involved in relief and rescue activities, while visiting flood-hit areas of the state.

It is worth mentioning here that several villages in the Rajanagar Assembly constituency have been cut off from the outside world following flooding in the Brahmani River.
