Bhubaneswar: In a key appointment, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has appointed advocate Biraja Shankar Mishra as a Member of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).

According to a notification issued by the Law Department on Tuesday, the Governor made the appointment in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 22(1) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (Act 10 of 1994).

The appointment will take effect from the date Mishra assumes charge of his office, the notification stated.

The Odisha Human Rights Commission is headed by Chairperson Justice Satrughana Pujahari. Its other serving member is Chitta Ranjan Mohapatra.
