Bhubaneswar: The state government has asked the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected districts in Odisha to ensure proper implementation of the Gramodaya scheme.
Revenue and Disaster Management Department Additional Chief Secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee today wrote to the Collectors of 10 LWE-affected districts—Bargarh, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Rayagada.
It is worth mentioning here that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, had launched the Gramodaya scheme in Odisha in 2024 to ensure that welfare programmes reach the people living in LWE-affected districts.
The initiative was supposed to cover 538 villages in 10 LWE-affected districts in the state. Chief Secretary Anu Garg had reviewed the implementation of the scheme on March 19 this year.
Collectors told to identify landless families by May 15
In his letter, Padhee has asked the district Collectors to identify the landless families in 484 villages under 39 blocks by May 15 and provide them homestead plots under the Vasundhara scheme of the state government.
Similarly, the officials have been asked to issue resident certificate, income certificate, caste certificate and other documents to the applicants of these village on priority basis.
Moreover, the state government has asked the Collectors to monitor the implementation of the Gramodaya scheme through periodic review meetings.
Similarly, the Collectors have been asked to take the necessary steps for quick recruitment for the vacant posts of the Revenue Department under their respective jurisdictions.
