Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has urged organisations, institutions, individuals and legal experts to come forward to facilitate the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Cuttack Dahi Bara.

Replying to a question in the Assembly, MSME Minister Gokulananda Mallick said the state government cannot directly apply for GI tagging as per existing rules. Instead, eligible bodies such as associations or organisations can submit the application.

The Minister appealed to various stakeholders to take the initiative in filing for the GI tag. He assured that the state government would extend full support and cooperation if any organisation, individual or legal expert comes forward to pursue the application.
