Bhubaneswar: The state government will provide monthly stipend to the Post Graduate (PG) and PhD students of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT).

The initiative is likely to boost agricultural education and research in the state, said the Department of Agriculture.  

“The decision to provide financial support to the PG and PhD students of the OUAT was taken due to the special efforts of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo,” said the Department.

According to the Department, OUAT PG Students will receive Rs 10,000 per month for two years for agriculture and allied courses. Similarly, PhD scholars of the institute will receive Rs 15,000 per month for up to three years.

The primary objective of this assistance is to encourage quality research and motivate the meritorious students of Odisha, added the Department.

“Investing in our young researchers means securing the future of Odisha's farmers. With this assistance, our students can focus on new innovations and research without financial worries,” stated Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo.

This scheme will be applicable to all regular PG and PhD students pursuing agriculture and allied subjects at OUAT.
