Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to waive off admission fees in all secondary and higher secondary schools in the state.

The government took this decision as part of the ‘Gyanodaya—Shikshya Ru Samruddhi’ scheme, which was approved by the Odisha Cabinet a few days ago.

“The School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department of the state government has decided to waive off admission fees in all eligible government and aided secondary schools and higher secondary schools with effect from the academic session 2026-27,” said departmental Commissioner-cum-Secretary in a letter to the Directors of Secondary Education and Higher Secondary Educations in Odisha.

In this context, the S&ME Department has asked all government and aided secondary and higher secondary schools not to collect any admission fees from the students for 2026-27 academic year.

“The Odisha government has decided to provide free education to the students from KG to PG level in all eligible educational institutions under the Gyanodaya—Shikshya Ru Samruddhi scheme,” read the letter.
