Bhubaneswar: The administration in Odisha’s Jajpur district has ordered a probe in connection with the alleged theft of relief material meant for the flood-affected people.
Jajpur Collector asked the officials concerned to launch an investigation into the alleged theft after a complaint in this regard was lodged with the Dasarathpur police.
As per the complaint, several trucks carrying relief material had reached the Dasarathpur area in Jajpur a few days ago. However, the relief items were allegedly misappropriated by some individuals.
“The trucks carrying the relief items were seen on their way to the block office of Dasarathpur. The vehicles had the images of the Prime Minister and Odisha Chief Minister. However, the relief material did not reach the flood-affected villagers. We suspect that some people might have misappropriated the relief items,” alleged Dasarathpur Panchayat Samiti chairman Digambar Mallick.
The locals, meanwhile, urged the police to trace the stolen relief materials and initiate action against the culprits.
