Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested a person on charges of circulating fake appointment orders for various posts in the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Odisha’s Puri city.

The accused has been identified as Biprasen Bhoi (46) of Balarampur Gada under Balanga police limits in Puri.

“The accused had circulated forged appointment letters claiming recruitment in the SJTA with the intention of misleading the public and creating a false impression regarding employment opportunities,” said a police officer.

The accused has been produced in a local court. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the forged documents and possible involvement of any other person(s) in the offence, he added.

The SJTA had lodged a police complaint after fake appointment orders for various posts in the Jagannath temple squad came to the fore a few days ago.

On the basis of the complaint, Singhadwar police in Puri had registered a case under Sections 319(2), 318(4), 336(3) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched a probe.
