Udala: A 15-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide after her family members broke her mobile phone following arguments in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district today.

The incident took place at Gagapal village under Rajabarhampur police limits in Udala area.

According to preliminary information, the girl's family was objecting to her frequent use of the mobile phone. Following repeated disputes over the issue, the family members broke the phone.

Upset over the incident, the teenager locked herself inside a room and consumed poison.

Family members rushed her to the Udala Hospital for treatment. However, she died shortly after being admitted.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances leading to the girl's death.
