Bhubaneswar: A villager was killed and two others were critically injured in lightning strike during a wedding procession in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district today.

The incident took place at Ranja village under Dhenkanal Sadar police limits in the afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Amin Behera (52) of Koilipingi village. Injured Tapan Jena and Manoj Dehury were admitted to a hospital in Cuttack city.  

As per reports, the lightning struck the trio while a group of residents of Chandrasekhaprasad village was accompanying the groom in a procession to the bride’s home at Ranja village.

The villagers rescued the injured trio and rushed them to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). However, Behera was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The other two injured persons were referred to a hospital in Cuttack city after their condition deteriorated, reports said.
