Sundargarh: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended a Revenue Inspector of Kalosihira Circle under Kuarmunda Tahasil in Sundargarh district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from an applicant in exchange for issuing a land demarcation report.

The accused has been identified as Anita Jena, Revenue Inspector of Kalosihira Circle. According to Vigilance officials, she had allegedly demanded the bribe from an applicant seeking the demarcation report of his ancestral land.

Officials said the applicant had submitted his application for the demarcation report a few months ago. Despite repeated requests, the report was allegedly withheld without any valid reason. The complainant alleged that the Revenue Inspector demanded Rs 4,000 to process and issue the report.

Unable to secure the report despite repeated follow-ups, the applicant approached Odisha Vigilance and lodged a complaint, alleging harassment and demand for illegal gratification.

Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Anita Jena red-handed while allegedly accepting the Rs 4,000 bribe from the complainant. The entire tainted amount was recovered from her possession and seized as evidence.

Following the trap, Odisha Vigilance launched simultaneous searches at three locations linked to the accused to investigate possible disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered at Rourkela Vigilance Police Station under Case No. 05 dated July 20, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway.
