Odisha: Youth held for raping minor girl in Bhubaneswar

The Commissionerate Police today arrested a youth on charges of raping a minor girl in the Odisha capital. The minor girl went missing while on her way to a dance competition during the Raja festival on June 16.

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested a youth on charges of raping a minor girl in the Odisha capital here.

The accused has been identified as Supriya Maharana of Palashpalli area of the capital city.

As per reports, the minor girl went missing while on her way to a dance competition during the Raja festival on June 16.

Her family members had lodged a complaint in this regard with Chandaka police.

On the basis of the complaint, the police launched a search to trace the minor girl. Finally, the cops rescued her from Forest Park area of the city on June 25.

The police later registered a rape case and conducted a medical examination of the victim. They arrested the accused after recording the statement of the minor girl, reports said.
