Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s total revenue collection from various sources stood at ₹61,593 crore as of July this financial year, registering a 7.3 per cent increase over the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

The figures were presented during a review meeting of the Finance Department chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday.

The state’s own revenue collection also recorded significant growth, rising 11.9 per cent year-on-year as of July. Own tax revenue increased by 9.3 per cent, while non-tax revenue grew by 14.8 per cent during the period.

Programme and capital expenditure also registered substantial growth during the current financial year. Programme expenditure as of July was 19.1 per cent higher than during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Capital expenditure, or capex, stood at ₹11,300 crore by the end of July 2026, compared with ₹9,399 crore during the same period last year, marking a 20.2 per cent year-on-year increase.

According to the data presented at the meeting, the state’s revenue receipts comprise 10 per cent from grants from the Centre, 31 per cent from its share in central taxes, 31 per cent from its own tax revenue and 28 per cent from its own non-tax revenue.

During the meeting, Majhi called for further strengthening the state’s revenue collection mechanism and increasing programme and capital expenditure to accelerate development.

He said the state government was preparing several initiatives with the objective of building a prosperous Odisha by 2036, which would require increased investment in infrastructure.

The Chief Minister directed departments to make revenue collection more efficient and accelerate implementation to ensure higher capital expenditure.

Finance Department Principal Secretary Sanjeev Mishra made a presentation on the department’s revenue and expenditure performance.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shashwat Mishra, Finance Department Special Secretary Yamini Sarangi and senior officials of the department attended the meeting.
