Bhubaneswar/Puri: In order to ensure a smoother and more organised experience for devotees, the Odisha government is set to introduce a queue-based darshan system at the 12th-century Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Following a high-level meeting chaired by Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, the minister said the queue-based system is expected to be fully implemented within three to four months.

According to the plan, the system will initially be introduced as a pilot project within a week. Once fully operational, around 8,000 devotees are expected to be able to have darshan of the deities within an hour.

An expert team has proposed the construction of five ramps through the Sata Pahacha (seven steps) area to facilitate the movement of devotees and streamline the darshan process, Harichandan said.

Officials from the concerned department, the Puri Superintendent of Police and an expert team from IIT Bhubaneswar attended the meeting.
