Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday reached the official residence of Narla MLA Manorama Mohanty in Bhubaneswar in connection with a case registered against her husband, Durga Prasad Mohanty.

According to reports, a complaint has been filed against Durga Prasad Mohanty, who is the chairman of Narla Block, by Narla Tehsildar Bibhu Prasad Singh. The complaint has alleged that Mohanty issued death threats to him.

Based on the written complaint, a case was registered at the Narla police station on March 15. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

As part of the ongoing probe, a police team visited the Bhubaneswar residence of the MLA. However, no official statement has yet been received from Manorama Mohanty or her husband regarding the allegations.

Kalahandi Superintendent of Police clarified that the visit to the MLA’s residence was solely to serve a notice in connection with the case. The SP stated that Kalahandi police, with assistance from local police in Bhubaneswar, had gone to deliver the notice.

The officer further clarified that the police team had not gone for any arrest or raid, for which the Assembly Speaker was not informed about the visit.
