Puri: Following allegations of involvement in unethical activities and the registration of a police case against a servitor of the Srimandir, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has suspended him.
The servitor, identified as Shraddhananda Das Mohapatra, a Shuddha Suar and Daitapati servitor, has been placed under suspension by the temple administration’s Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee under provisions of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act.
According to officials, the action has been taken after the matter came to the notice of the temple administration. The alleged misconduct was deemed to have tarnished the dignity and reputation of both the servitor community and the Srimandir.
The suspension will remain in force until further orders. During this period, the servitor will be debarred from performing any temple duties and has also been prohibited from entering the temple premises.
The Chief Administrator stated while most servitors maintain discipline and adhere to rituals with devotion, any form of misconduct by individuals that brings disrepute to the temple will not be tolerated.
