Brahmapur: Serious allegations of a question paper leak have surfaced in the postgraduate (PG) examinations conducted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, raising concerns over examination integrity and institutional accountability.

According to sources, the examinations, conducted under the aegis of the Odisha University of Health Sciences, reportedly witnessed major irregularities. The controversy emerged after claims that question papers were leaked shortly before the exam and circulated among students through multiple WhatsApp groups.

It is alleged some medical students shared photographs of the question paper in these groups ahead of the examination. Subsequently, answers were also written and circulated within the same groups, potentially giving certain candidates an unfair advantage.

Suspicion has fallen on a medical student and a senior staff member of the institution for their alleged involvement in the leak racket. Reports further suggest the question papers were sold for large sums of money, with copies also reaching a private medical college and hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The alleged irregularities are said to have occurred during the PG examination held on July 27, which covered over 20 subjects. Following complaints, the matter was formally reported to the Odisha University of Health Sciences.

Acting on the allegations, a team from the university recently visited MKCG Medical College and Hospital to conduct a preliminary inquiry. The team is currently examining the circumstances surrounding the leak and working to identify those responsible.

Authorities at MKCG Medical College have also initiated an internal investigation to determine how the question paper was photographed and circulated on WhatsApp. Dean Dr. Harikrushna Dalai confirmed the development and assured that strict action would be taken against those found guilty.

Meanwhile, officials stated two more examinations are yet to be conducted, and additional measures will be implemented to ensure stricter monitoring and prevent any further malpractice.

The incident has sparked widespread concern among students and the academic community, with calls for transparency and stringent action.
